Feb. 1 is the final performance of Broadway in Charleston’s highly acclaimed musical “The Book of Mormon” at the Clay Center this season. Described as the “best musical of this century” and the “funniest musical of all time”, the play is a 9-time Tony Award winner. It is sure to be a very entertaining evening.
The 8th season of FestivALL’s “Three Things” returns this month with an interesting line-up of special guests. Judge Tera Salango, the Olive Tree owner/chef Michael Jarrouj, and FamilyCare Health Center’s CEO Craig Glover will be featured. Come hear them share their stories about how they got started, what they love, and where they are going. This will be held at the John L. Dickinson Family Homeowner Education and Community Center at 815 Court St.
The Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center (CC&CC) is the site for the always popular West Virginia International Auto Show. The latest models of cars, trucks, and SUVs will fill the Coliseum the first weekend of the month. The CC&CC is also the venue for “Disney on Ice” and “DualCon” the following weekend.
William Shatner, the star of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan”, comes to the Clay Center live on stage, while the audience enjoys a screening of the classic film. Mr. Shatner will be sharing humorous and fascinating stories of his legendary career.
Also appearing at the Clay Center is blues-rock superstar Joe Bonamassa. Described in “Guitar World” as “arguably the world’s biggest blues guitarist”, he has had 25 #1 songs on “Billboard Magazine” and 3 Grammy nominations.
Three country music superstars come to town in February. On Valentine’s Day, Carrie Underwood performs her “THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR” at the CC&CC. Four days later, Wynonna Judd presents “The Judds – Final Tour” with Martina McBride joining her onstage.
A huge fundraiser for the year-round programming of FestivALL is FeastivALL. This year, the event is held at Berry Hills Country Club with a 5-course gourmet meal created by professional chefs, beer and wine pairings, and a silent auction. Tickets start at $125 with special pricing for reserved VIP tables of 10.
February may be the shortest month of the year, but it is BIG on cool concerts and entertainment for the entire family!
