July begins with an extremely cool “Live on the Levee” show! “The Temptations” and “The Four Tops” bring all of their hits to town in the free concert at Haddad Riverfront Park. The very next evening, on Saturday, country music star Martina McBride also performs a free concert at Haddad Riverfront Park!

The biggest news in town this summer is the return of the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta! While there are definitely activities and attractions for ALL ages, there are over 50 free events for children. One of the country’s most beloved and respected country superstar and Kentucky native, Chris Stapleton comes to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center (CC&CC) on the 9th. 

The community is still celebrating the impressive re-opening of the Main Branch of the Kanawha County Public Library. Its $32 million renovation has so much to offer. If you haven’t stopped by yet, you are really missing out!

There is a special event being held at J.Q. Dickinson Salt Works on July 23. The “Preservation Alliance of West Virginia” is holding a fundraiser honoring the people working to save West Virginia’s unique cultural heritage. Chef Paul Smith of 1010 Bridge will be catering the dinner. There will an awards ceremony,  a silent auction, and a raffle. Single tickets are $125 and combinations will be available for small groups.

The popular basketball team tournament featuring alumni from West Virginia University, “Best Virginia”, and Marshall University’s “Herd That” will return to the CC&CC for a four day tournament. The regional event will consist of of eight teams from the area.

Charleston has SO much to offer this summer, and before we know it, it will be time for the kids to be back in school!
