May is such a terrific time of year to be in Charleston! The weather is nearly perfect, the flowers are in full bloom and there is such an air of excitement in town. We celebrate Mother’s Day and also Graduation Day for many local college and high school students this month. Memorial Weekend always brings us the Vandalia Gathering and the FestivALL’s Premier Weekend. Live on the Levee begins the ultra cool and eclectic free concerts every Friday evening at Haddad Riverfront Park.

West Virginia’s largest one-day community yard sale will be held in the beautiful and historic East End. If you and your friends ever wanted to roll a cannon down the road, you can do that very thing with Irish Road Bowling at the Kanawha State Forest!

The Foam at the Dome returns to Laidley Field with craft beer, local artisans, plenty of food, and live music. The Clay Center’s addition of an after-party following the ArtWalk is a terrific addition to Charleston’s night life.

Children will enjoy “Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live” at the Clay Center, as they are taken on a journey through pre-historic Australia to see life-like dinosaurs. The whole family can play together at the Kanawha State Forest Mountain Bike Festival.

This May in Charleston is a wonderful kick-off to a fun-filled, exciting summer! Enjoy!!!
