July 2023

With FestivALL wrapping up last month, the “Charleston Sternwheel Regatta” returns with terrific concerts and dozens of fun-filled events the first 4 days of July. The Regatta concerts are a HUGE reason “ya gotta Regatta”. Flo Rida, Kool & the Gang, and Jo Dee Messina will be performing free concerts at the levee. The 4th of July ends with the WVSO performing with a fireworks show completing the evening. There are so many events, it is impossible to include all of them here. For a complete list, check out the website at charlestonregatta.com.

WV’s first chef to be nominated as a James Beard finalist, Chef Paul Smith, returns to Capitol Market for his “Let’s Get Cooking” demonstration on the 20th. “Foam at the Dome” had to be rescheduled from last month due to weather issues. The 22nd will be a super fun day at the WV Capitol with music, food trucks, artisan vendors, and plenty of beer!

During the summer, the city offers guided “Downtown Art & Architecture” tours. These tours are at various times from Friday through Sunday and cost $15 for the walking tour. It begins at 221 Hale St., is 1.2 miles long, and lasts under one hour. Reservations are necessary and can be made through the website: countryroadstours.com

The Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center (CC&CC) will be the venue for an interesting variety of shows this month. “Southern Mama & Friends Comedy Tour” performs July 8. Then, on the 11th, hard rock stars “Motionless in White” and the Grammy nominated “In This Moment”, who are coming together to co-headline shows across North America, bring their show to Charleston.

Folks from all over the Americas will converge on Charleston the last week of this month when the 2023 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Pan American Youth Championships come to the CC&CC.

With so many activities and events for everyone, CRW has a very cool and eclectic vibe this summer!

Happy Independence Day!!!
