NOVEMBER 2021

As our world begins to open up and cancelled events are rescheduled, Charleston is a very cool place to be in November! Lynrd Skynyrd, Bob Dylan, Nelly, The Avett Brothers, Brantley Gilbert… need I say more?

“Mountain Stage” has two performances this month at 100% capacity, Shawnee Sports Complex hosts a huge soccer tournament with 100+ teams, and the “Champions of Magic” come to town. They have sold out shows all over the world and feature spectacular illusions that simply won’t be seen anywhere else. AND, Broadway in Charleston brings “STOMP” to the Clay Center.

Everyone loves a parade and we love our US military veterans. Be sure to bring the whole family to Kanawha Blvd. at Elk River on Nov. 11 and show your appreciation for our vets!

COVID has made the past 18 months difficult, no doubt. But, as everything slowly gets going again, most of us have a new appreciation for the little things, such as “normal”! Normal, like running a 5K on Thanksgiving morning, thanks to the 10th Annual Drumstick Dash. Like dining outdoors nearly year round. One happy consequence of

the pandemic has been the creation of more outdoor, heated dining spaces. Check out Soho’s newly enlarged “Beer Garden” at the east end of Capitol Market.

Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau has developed an app that makes keeping track of all the upcoming events so easy! “Visit Charleston WV” is a wonderful way to discover activities and attractions that match your interests, customize a trip to town, develop an itinerary, and even share your plans with your family and friends. Up to 6 family members may use the app with Family Sharing enabled. If you haven’t checked out the “Let’s Roam’s Charleston Scavenger Hunt” app, this is a great time to do just that! This is a terrific time of year to explore the city and everything it has to offer.

As the holidays approach just around the corner, it is very clear that Charleston really is the center of “Almost Heaven” and there is no place better to be!

Happy Thanksgiving!
